HISTORY: Early inhabitants were Amerindians. The island of barbados was uninhabited when settled by the British in 1627. Third oldest Parliament in the Western Hemisphere. Slavery abolished in 1837 and independent since 1966.
GOVERNMENT: Politically stable and ranked as the number one developing nation by the United Nations. An independent nation but officially a monarchial state,the Governor General is the Representative of the Queen of England. Member of the British Commonwealth
ECONOMY: Relies heavily on tourism as the number one foreign exchange earner. Other planks of the economy are Business, Financial Services, Agriculture and Manufacturing
